Our climate is warming at a dangerous rate, jeopardizing farmers’ livelihood and threatening food production. We can’t afford to delay meaningful action any longer.
Illinois farmers, if supported with the necessary state resources, can be key players in our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and sequester excess carbon in farm soils. By implementing sustainable farming practices, farmers can harvest the power of agriculture to draw down carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the soil— bringing us closer to our climate goals, nutrient loss reduction goals, and dramatically improving our food system.
Governor Pritzker and his administration should expand their approach to tackling the climate crisis by including strategies that support sustainable farmers in our state.
Urge Gov. Pritzker to expand his climate action approach to include farmers and sustainable agriculture practices that protect our climate!
