This year, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will update the State Water Plan for the first time in nearly 40 years, which means we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to ensure Illinois has enough clean, affordable water for current and future generations.
The plan will provide policy and program guidance in water resources management across state agencies. Decisions on agency action, funding and legislation all flow from the state water plan, so it’s vital to the protection of water bodies and wildlife throughout the state. That’s why robust public engagement is critical to developing an effective, environment and equity-centered plan.
Contact Governor Pritzker to let him know why a strong State Water Plan is critical to ensuring equitable access to safe, clean, living waters and the development of sustainable water resources for the people and wildlife of Illinois.
