The transportation sector is now the largest source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Illinois and the United States. Despite accounting for only 4% of vehicles on the road, medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses are responsible for roughly 28% of these emissions.
Signed by 15 states and the District of Columbia, the Multi-State Medium- and Heavy-Duty Zero Emission Vehicle Memorandum of Understanding calls for 30% of new truck and bus sales to be zero-emission by 2030 and 100% by 2050. The MOU is the largest-ever multi-state collaboration to clean up transportation pollution and commits the states to develop a model action plan to meet the 2030 and 2050 targets.
Take action now and tell Gov. Pritzker to sign Illinois on to electrifying trucks and buses.
